Five Elements Hostel

You can tell staff really puts their heart into managing this hostel! Friendly space, nicely fitted,with mates rates for food and beverage. The surroundings are a bit rough, given that the hostel is located in the red light district, but otherwise a nice experience.

4.5 stars. It's a great hostel, staff are wonderful and the vibe is great with friendly travellers from all over the world, just like you would expect in a true hostel. Free dinner, happy hour, great cheap breakfast, very comfy and sociable common areas are huge pluses. They warn you about the location so you can't really blame them for this. It's not a pretty sight, but all in all I felt safe and it's just a couple minutes walk from the central train station. The walking dead around the place are harmful to no one but themselves. They deserve help and compassion, not fear. If anything, the rooms could use some love, ceiling fans or AC would be ideal in the hot summer months, and curtains for each bed would make it perfect.

GASP at the incredible speeds of heroin users off to buy a bag MARVEL at the worst case of subconjuctivital bleeding you have ever seen, *or will ever see* BE RADICALISED by the distinct lack of care the financial district shows for it's most vulnerable Fun HOSTEL, bad AREA. SAFE too. Great BBQ!

The location is great because it is very close to the train station, but it is located in a scary area with a lot of sexshops and junkies. Don't recommend if you're a female solo traveler. The bathrooms were not clean.

L'hôtel est très proche de la gare et le personnel très bienveillant. En effet la rue de l'hôtel est mal fréquentée mais une fois rentré dans l'hôtel, on se sent en sécurité. Merci encore pour l'accueil !

The hostel was decent but was in a horrible location. The staff had great safety measures and were really nice, but it’s located in the central places were a lot of homeless people, drug dealers and drug users are about. As a solo traveller it can be really sketchy walking by yourself in the day and especially at night to the hostel. The hostel itself was quite nice, I caught up with a friend who lives near this city so I didn’t use the bar, but it seemed very safe and nice. The rooms were decent and comfortable enough. I wouldn’t recommend this hostel for solo travellers just based on the location, although the staff and hostel were super helpful and had good safety and security measures, it might be safer to try other locations in the city

Nice facility and nice people working there. Good vibe each evening in the common area. Yeah the area outside of the hostel is full of junkies, but it’s like any city in America (sad) so if you’re American you can handle it.

Great Hostel. Nevertheless, its located in the redlight district of Frankfurt, which is why its quite loud outside at night. At least during the weekend

Pretty good hostel all round. Location (the red light district, which we were warned about in advance) is quite difficult a place to be. Lots of drug use in the street etc. Hostel felt pretty safe/security was good, and to be fair I didn’t get any hassle outside (though I am a guy and big-ish), but a bit hard walking through the area each day.

Quite the horror. Please stay away. The beds creek so you can’t sleep. Too noisy. Too dingy. Just a bad and unsafe experience. The reception people are somewhat nice. But doesn’t make up for the horror of the whole place. Also overpriced for what you get. Breakfast not included. Also there was just bananas, cereal and some stale fruits for €6.50-not what you see in the pictures.

The hostel is in the middle of Frankfurt’s red district and as a result, the streets are lined with junkies! I would really recommend being careful, especially as a women on your own, if booking here. The hostel itself had a positive atmosphere. The only feedback I’d suggest is removing the minimum limit for card use at the hostel. On a street like that I don’t particularly want to be walking around with a lot of cash, which seems a little short sighted from the hostel.

Property was great, all facilities were good and security and staff were both really good. Just do some research on the location of the hostel before you book so you don’t get a shock.

This hostel is in a suuuper sketchy area! I came by myself and absolutely did not feel safe, I’m glad my train came in before the sun set because I would not have wanted to walk around outside after dark. The staff were lovely and the facilities were good (besides no air con), but I definitely would not stay here again & would not recommend if you’re traveling solo
