I stayed at the hostel during Easter 2025 and would like to thank James for his responsiveness, kindness, and support throughout my stay! I’m really glad I had the chance to meet such a pleasant person.
As for the hostel itself, I was pleasantly impressed by the level of service (24/7 reception, a well-equipped and comfortable kitchen, bike rentals, a bar, and a cozy outdoor terrace), the cleanliness of all shared areas, and the tasty, nutritious breakfasts.
I’ll definitely come back to this hostel again.

We booked a 6 beds shared room.
The service was quite helpful and easy to contact. The rooms and toilets were clean and comfortable. The location is central, you can find supermarkets and transportation 2 streets away, and several restaurants and bars around the street.

Super clean, great location, felt safe, nice staff, free coffee and tea - Honestly one of the best hostels I've stayed in! Wifi a bit tricky, which I think is a must-have when travelling without data... but maybe this was a fluke and otherwise I HIGHLY recommend this place.

The doors are tough to not bang every time you leave your dorm but otherwise very nice hostel! The staff is nice, the hostel has theme nights like karaoke opened to the public which makes it even easier to meet people. The atmosphere in the bar and dorms is really nice. The staff is there 24/7 too. The luggage room is nice to have if you are too soon for checking in.

What a beautiful hostel and nice vibe. We have been here several times already and it has never dissapointed us. It is clean, comfortable, well taken care of, and organizes nice events in the bar. We will be back!

Finally a hostel without a "pink tax"! Stayed in an all-women's dorm that charges exactly the same price as other dorm beds. But that's not the only thing that Mondpalast got right: rooms were clean, nice showers, service super friendly, top location in a great neighborhood, and free all you can drink coffee and tea.
My only criticism would be that I found it rather noisy (maybe the downside of the great location in the middle of Neustadt) and the toilets smelled like someone had smoked in there. Just as something to watch out for if that's an issue for you.
Apart from that, definitely recommend for a stay in Dresden, and would come back.

Es ist ein freundliches Hostel mit aufmerksamen freundlichen Personal. Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis ist gut. Nur ist es etwas hellhörig, was man morgens ab ca6:30 zu spüren bekommt

Nice Hostel with a great bar, helpful staff and free-of-charge coffee. It's located on the other side of the Elba, so not where the old town or the main station is, but for walkers it is walkable and for the others there are trams. Also this district has its own railway station called Dresden Neustadt, which is is significantly closer than the Hauptbahnhof. I can imagine this Hostel being very busy during the summer but currently it was very chill. All in all: tens accross the board! ????

Great stay. Very comfortable. Privacy curtains would be nice to have. Really nice to have the bed already made especially when you arrive late when everyone is sleeping and lights are off. Close to a lot of cool bars including the one for the hostel. A short journey from the old town but public transit is close and easy.

Great place too stay too explore the city, Small kitchen area helpful. Was cold outside and it was lovely and warm when you enter which is very pleasant. Dorm was spacious and heating on a timer is okay. Breakfast is an extra charge but very close to nightlife so easy walk too bars. Would definitely recommend

I stayed here two nights and loved it. It was really easy meeting people, great vibes all around. The common areas were really useful and inviting so people were always hanging out. The second night there was a rap battle and it was PACKED with people. I thought it was pretty cool, but it was difficult to get through the crowd so I could head to bed. So maybe that's not going to be your thing, I would say this hostel offered a lot in the way of social things to do, so that's either for you or it isn't. Highly recommend

I love the common areas, the staff helped my dumna$$ with the 10 EUR bill i lost and cut my lock after i left the keys inside my locker, my dorm-mates were all super nice, everything is very clean, location is in a neat neighborhood with plenty of things to do in every direction. Highly recommend.
Disclaimer, they host events in the reception/common area that can be quite loud. I was on floor 2 so it didn't really bother me. There is no elevator, just a spiral staircase with 2 landings ea floor

El hostel está bien ubicado, el personal es súper amable y las camas cómodas. Como tiene actividades a la noche algunos días de la semana, luego de las 19hs es imposible usar la cocina porque el hostel se llena de gente que son huéspedes y no huéspedes. Hay gente que "vive" o hace voluntariados en el hostel y comparten habitación con los viajeros, el problema es que usan casi todo el espacio con sus cosas, y es bastante incómodo (ropa de ellos en los percheros o en todo el piso), pero en gral bi

Alternatives Histel in der Dresdner Neustadt mit vielen Bars, Clubs und Restaurants. Vegetarisches Frühstück sehr gut. Kaffee und Tee gratis. Großes Zweibettzimmer mit großem Bad. Gleich neben dem Luv Monument????

Sehr gemütlich, schöner Aufenthaltsraum mit angeschlossener Bar. Das Personal war sehr sympathisch. Mein 6 er Frauenzimmer sehr geräumig. Bäder und Toiletten sehr sauber. Lage sehr gut im ausgehviertel. Mit Straßenbahn kommt man gut herum.

Location, kitchen, free teas. The room was basic but clean and the space travel themed decor is fun. The beds were quite narrow but comfortable. Nice, affordable breakfast.
The staff working in the mornings were unfriendly, at times stand offish. Their responses to simple requests were surprising. For instance, two of them were talking very loudly in the corridor in the morning and when I mentioned that people might be asleep (it was on Sunday), their response was very dismissive, e.g. “this is not a hotel”. Or the reception staff were discouraging us from having breakfast because they were just over 20 minutes left before they were going to start packing things up.
The visitors in the hostel weren’t noisy but whenever someone left the floor the door would slam so noisily that it would be impossible not to wake up.
Note that no shampoo or body wash is provided, only liquid hand soap.
