The area is really bad full of crazy people Doing drugs. The bed is also terrible very low quality mattress. Staff people are very basic they wont solve any problems you have. Not recommended

Very little access to a washing machine and dryer. An brawl happened the night I arrived, one guy was stabbed with a broken bottle and cops were called. The atmosphere around the hostel is appalling- drug zombies everywhere. At least the staff is incredibly understanding congrat to them and their efforts and the rooms are clean but the bathroom fan is broken and the smell in there is a mix of piss and mold. Overall I’m glad of the people I met there. The rest discourages to go to frankfurt again

I don't know if people were the problem, but I found that beds with mattresses that were pretty dirty, some bathrooms/carnations stinked. And I think you should have mentioned in your ad that there are drug addicts around the hotel which makes us not really dare to go out in the evening . You warned in the ad, but I think you've been too vague about it.

Terribly located, no ventilation in the room and it smelled like feet. Beds shake tremendously when someone is on top. The location is deep in the sketchy part of town, druggies and hookers everywhere. I was raring to get out of there. Also the age demographic seemed to be really really old folks, not recommended for youth.

I have stayed at 5 Elements a number of times but not for a few years. Unfortunately, it has gone down in my estimation. There are signs of poor maintenance or attention to detail in quite a few areas. One example was a fitted bed sheet that was very old and had two small holes. I was also concerned to see that the drug & red-light people on the street near the hostel had got much worse since my previous visits - it now feels like a place that you should not go (I never felt that previously!).

The room is generally nice, not that kind of excellent but not too bad. Regarding sanity, I wouldn’t say it’s the cleanest but I didn’t encounter any problem. Maybe there are too many people on one floor for just one shower+ 2 toilets. The staff are really nice and helpful. They offer help as soon as I needed it. Overall, a satisfying stay inside the hostel. However, the location is worth considering if you are a female travelling alone or with few people. IT CAN GET REALLY DANGEROUS. Some junkies started bothering me when I was just heading out to buy some breakfast. And the smell in the streets are the worst kind I’ve encountered throughout my life. However, it’s near the HBF so maybe it’s a trade-off. I wouldn’t risk my life again in this red light area tho.

Nice hostel very close to the main train station, the staff were friendly and helpful.

Weitgehend in jeder Hinsicht gutes Haus mit schöner Lounge mit kostenlosem Kaffee und Wasser 24/7 als Highlight. Noch schöner wäre es, wenn die Beleuchtung am Bett funktionieren würde (Zimmer 207) und der Verkaufsautomat eine Kühlung hätte, so dass bei sommerlichen Temperaturen Tafelschokolade nicht in nicht essbarem flüssigen Zustand herauskommen würde.

The location is in a downtown area where there are a lot of people experiencing homelessness. There are a lot of sex/erotica bars open 24 hours, as well. And for some reason the city does not clean the streets well there. The hostel is great in that they offer free water and coffee and tea all day. However, sometimes the water for the tea was not hot. I'm not sure if the container doesn't continually warm the water; I think it doesn't. The breakfast is ok if you like a continental breakfast, but I didn't see any protein. There is a lot of information on places to eat, places to dance, and things to do. They also offer walking tours. I noticed my key card did not work and there were other people who experienced the same team. Eventually they just gave me a traditional key to open the room. Because you share a bathroom and the showers do not have a barrier between the shower and the toilet and sink part, it's good to have shower shoes or shower slippers; otherwise you will walk on people's water. I stayed in the top penthouse floor which is 5 double rooms that share a living/dining room and kitchen and 3 bathrooms. The living/dining/kitchen room was extremely hot and suffocating. Three of the bedrooms were extremely hot. Two of the bedrooms including mine had an air conditioning, but it didn't work in one of the bedrooms. My air conditioning worked well one night and didn't the other days so it was excruciatingly hot. So we often had to go down to the lobby because the rooms did not have air conditioning or did not have functioning air conditioning. My one friend had a cockroach in her double bedroom. I had these very small ants that move very fast. They were along the walls and corners and would crawl on to my desk and into my computer. I found one in the comforter on one of the double beds (the twin bed on the right), so I never slept in it and slept in the twin bed on the left (the other part of the double bed). They said they cleaned the bathrooms twice a day but I don't think I saw that. Sometimes they didn't clean it or they cleaned it once a day. It's very close to the subway/train station. There was a lot of construction which made it hard to walk to sometimes, depending on which exit you used from the train station. You can walk to the water from the place. The people (guests) there were really nice. The staff was ok (it depends on which staff you talked to).

This property is in an awful location right next to several brothels. The area is dangerous. There is no airflow or air conditioning which is brutal during the summer. It felt quite unsafe to get in. Once inside the staff were nice and accommodating and I felt safe inside the building, but it was dangerous surrounding the hostel. I wouldn’t stay here again.

AVOID!! Located in the heart of the red lights district, incredibly dangerous and unsafe area. There are junkies, open drug use and homeless people like zombies at the doorstep and around the vicinity of the hostel. The area is also filthy and stinks. You’ll see needles and people shooting up and smoking crack everywhere. You also have to pay €3 for the bedsheets which is a joke and there is no A/C.

Sketchy area. Wouldn’t recommend.

Dangerous location, no aircon so you cannot sleep during summer, horrible all around even for the price, do not stay here!

Worst experience and worst place to stay. The staff is so adamant and does not have a sense on how to speak to customers. And, the area and the hostel itself is not safe.

just be aware, the property is in a VERY dangerous area. Drug addicts, prostitution and criminals all around. Very unsafe area. The other issue is the room I stayed in had no air conditioning , and it was a warm day so sleeping was very uncomfortable in a hot room. once you are in the property it is safe, and if you leave early in the AM all the crackheads outside will be asleep so I highly recommend leaving in the AM. The staff was nice.

Not my first time staying here, and for value for money it doesn't get better than this! Right next to HBF, so it's a bit of a dangerous area, but I've never had any problems personally.

Location of the hostel is sketchy, not in the nicest area of town. There are many adult bars around the building itself and it’s an area with heavy drug users. The hostel provides the basics for a good stay: clean beddings and bathrooms. I didn’t like that there is only 1 shower per floor and two toilets. They were however quite clean.

The bathrooms weren't very clean. The rooms had very little privacy, and windows open onto a street that is incredibly loud at night. As others have mentioned, the surrounding area is not very nice. Security isn't great; anyone can be buzzed into the hostel. Overall, I wouldn't come here again, not only because this hostel wasn't amazing, but also because spending time in Frankfurt as a city wasn't worth the hassle of this stay (we didn't find to much to see there).

Hostel in a central location. Frankfurt is a grotty city (at least what we saw) but no fault of the hostel.

Nice. Budget hostel. Good for backpackers, students etc. Staff is super nice. Have got all the basic facilities. However, it was quite noisy outside especially during night time, so don’t forget to take ear plugs. Moreover , the streets were filthy and the atmosphere around this hostel stinks. Beware of the thugs around especially during night time. Over the stay was good.

One of the best hostels I’ve ever been in one of the worst places I’ve ever been

The location is not safe at all, especially if travelling alone however the hostel itself is very secure. The pods were comfortable but rooms would get rather hot and opening the windows was hard as it was very loud outside. Staff were pleasant but lacked enthusiasm, but any issues were sorted straight away. Not many young people at the hostel tho?

Hostel is placed in crackhead Central basically like The Walking Dead.. I personally would avoid Frankfurt altogether if you can but.. The Hostel was a very nice the staff are very kind , and the rooms are immaculate , very comfortable and clean and great showers in the dorms and the privates shame it’s let down by the location, no place for Hostel.

I stayed 4 nights there and experience was great. Stay is clean , common areas clean as well . Friendly staff engaging activities like crepe night , pasta night which was really amazing . Daily room cleaning . Storage option for baggage , mini kitchen , refrigerator, washing machine , dryer everything included . I made few friends there too . Location is in the main central railway station , very good connectivity but except the fact that many drug people also red light street everything else was okay about the place

The location of this hostel is TERRIBLE!! Super dangerous and in the “worst street in Germany”, complete mess. However, the staff were lovely (Aussie guy, super nice) and made me feel a-lot better about my stay. Not too bad of a hostel, no curtains and rustic building in a terrible loud location.

DON’T STAY HERE! Strongly recommend you don’t stay here. No social atmosphere in the hostel at all. They don’t really organise anything meaningful. The toilets stank of sewage. No curtains in the dorms causing light and noise to escape and causing arguments at night between guests. You have to make the bed as well. The location is hell and don’t stay in the near area it’s zombie land either. The staff are…okay but too busy to be at reception.

this is not safe at all for female travellers and the fact it is in the red light district needs to be much clearer, the area is extremely bad and when we checked into our room we were met by 5 old men (around 50 to 60 years old) staring right at us. please do not stay here as a female traveller.

The property and rooms themselves were clean and staff friendly enough. Free tea and coffee, and comfortable beds. Note to female solo travellers about location: although the hostel itself is good, the location really doesn't feel safe. I've travelled extensively and ignored the other reviews, but unfortunately felt very uncomfortable and unsafe here, speaking with other girls in the hostel, the feeling was shared :( They do make this clear in the description and it's unfortunate because the hostel itself is good, but wouldn't stay here again.

I will not be staying here again. I figured that the hostel being in the red light district wouldn't be a huge issue, however that was far from the case. The area all around the hostel is extremely sketchy with people up all times of the night yelling, sirens blaring, begging for money, etc. There is a buzzer on the hostel to get in thankfully. If you stay in a room that is facing the street, good luck sleeping, even in a pod room. Going off of that, there was a crazy person staying in my room which led to

good bulding but you the sunrounds will be the walking dead series , for couple nights its okay

Very nice hostel, safe and pleasant inside. Just a small note that it’s not really recommended to go out at night.

The hostel is in an excellent location - a street away from the central station. The staff is very polite, helpful and the ambience in the lobby area is amazing. There are a lot of people around and it is very easy to strike up fun conversations. My only gripe with the hostel was the room itself - the window and blinds were always closed (no matter the time of the day I went in), to the point that there was a very clear stench that just did not go away. It was slightly suffocating.
