Five Elements Hostel

An sich ein schönes Hostel was auch super zentral(nah am HBF) liegt aber leider in einem unschönen Viertel, in dem man sich überlegt ob man abends nochmal raus geht. Personal ist super freundlich und hilfsbereit!

The hostel is great, it's got everything you need, there's always something going on so it's really easy to socialise. The area is a bit iffy but you'll definitely feel safe inside the hostel

Place is a very dangerous location

This place is scary. Junkies using heroin and smoking crack literally outside of the premises. Sex Shops up and down the road. Needles and glass on the ground. Vomit, people dry retching. Passed out severely addicted people everywhere with crazed looks and foul smells. It's what I envision the bowels of Hell to look like. Its happening in every direction 1 mile from this place. Its great being close to the train station but I felt uncomfortable walking with my luggage.

The hostel was nice! Good atmosphere, easy to meet people. The 5 min walk from the station is through an area with many homeless people but it didn't feel unsafe. Within a couple blocks are nicer areas that feel completely different. Good value for money!

This is a great hostel and would have a top score if it were literally one block away from its present location. The area is full of drugged and homeless and frankly not very safe, especially at night. I am not sure if I would go again only for this reason. Everything else is run amazingly well. The staff, customers, atmosphere, rooms, beds, pillows, everything is amazing, if you can make it safely inside their building. Don’t arrive after dark and look like you can handle yourself.

The hostel is located in the red light district, which is a crucial fact to know before booking since the area feels unsafe and sketchy. I would have appreciated if such information would have been included in the hostel description. Aside from the location, the bedsheet was full of holes and the mattress had blood spots. It was dirty. The room doesn't have AC why it was very hot during night.
