Five Elements Hostel

An sich ein schönes Hostel was auch super zentral(nah am HBF) liegt aber leider in einem unschönen Viertel, in dem man sich überlegt ob man abends nochmal raus geht. Personal ist super freundlich und hilfsbereit!

The hostel is great, it's got everything you need, there's always something going on so it's really easy to socialise. The area is a bit iffy but you'll definitely feel safe inside the hostel

Place is a very dangerous location

This place is scary. Junkies using heroin and smoking crack literally outside of the premises. Sex Shops up and down the road. Needles and glass on the ground. Vomit, people dry retching. Passed out severely addicted people everywhere with crazed looks and foul smells. It's what I envision the bowels of Hell to look like. Its happening in every direction 1 mile from this place. Its great being close to the train station but I felt uncomfortable walking with my luggage.

The hostel was nice! Good atmosphere, easy to meet people. The 5 min walk from the station is through an area with many homeless people but it didn't feel unsafe. Within a couple blocks are nicer areas that feel completely different. Good value for money!

This is a great hostel and would have a top score if it were literally one block away from its present location. The area is full of drugged and homeless and frankly not very safe, especially at night. I am not sure if I would go again only for this reason. Everything else is run amazingly well. The staff, customers, atmosphere, rooms, beds, pillows, everything is amazing, if you can make it safely inside their building. Don’t arrive after dark and look like you can handle yourself.

The hostel is located in the red light district, which is a crucial fact to know before booking since the area feels unsafe and sketchy. I would have appreciated if such information would have been included in the hostel description. Aside from the location, the bedsheet was full of holes and the mattress had blood spots. It was dirty. The room doesn't have AC why it was very hot during night.

Awesome hostel, Staff are fantastic, incredible facilities, and has an awesome bar, pool table, lounge and outdoor area! Would definitely visit again!

The staff is nice and friendly and they clearly do their best to keep the place safe. That being said the neighborhood the hotel is in is the reason why I wouldn’t book it again (specifically as a a female solo traveller). I arrived in the evening and found the 5min walk from the station quite creepy. It wasn’t much better in the middle of the day as I saw many people injecting drugs in the middle of the street. I didn’t feel safe walking from the station to the hotel.

Area is sketchy ????. The hostel is nice enough though.

Die Unterkunft lag im Bahnhofsviertel, in welchem ich Nachts alleine als Frau nicht unbedingt unterwegs sein will... Sonst ist aber alles wichtige einfach per Fuß zu erreichen und das Hostel an sich ist echt super und nur weiter zu empfehlen!

The property is in a really bab locality. Toilets do not have proper flushes and are very narrow and small. The beds make a lot of noise and if the person on the lower bunk moves, the whole bunk bed vibrates. A lot of work needs to be done!

It was a good hostel to stay for a couple of days. Staff is friendly and upgraded me for free from a mixed room to a women's only room :) The facilities are good and they have enough tips for things to do. However, it's truly located in a sketchy neighborhood, they gave a heads up, but I was still a bit surprised by how bad it was. Inside the hostel I felt safe, but I didn't feel safe going out of the hostel alone / walking back, so I let an Uber drop me off in front of the door.
