Five Elements Hostel

Rude receptionist Anastasia at Five Elements Hostel Frankfurt (June 8, 2025) treated me with hostility from check-in, interrupted me, shamed me, ignored polite questions, shortchanged me, tapped me aggressively on my shoulder and mocked me. She failed to provide the most basic info and tried to provoke confrontation. Another staff confirmed my complaint was valid. I request CCTV review, investigation and a disciplinary action against her. She was rude to all, clearly unfit to deal with guests.

Hostel was clean, obviously is in red light district, but they kept 2 doors locked so no one but hostellers were in the actual hostel.

A localização fica numa região meia estranha da cidade especialmente se você chegar de madrugada, mas isso eles já deixam bem claro na descrição, porém é muito bom pra quem quer se hospedar perto da estação central. Fizemos o check in de madrugada e o staff foi muito atencioso.

Overall I'd come back, but not for longer than 1-2 nights. Location is great for train convenience. Centred in the red light district so be warned that if you're uncomfortable with vulnerable populations this may not be your place. Wish there were curtains for the beds. Something small like that makes a big difference. Lastly, on 4th floor men's shower - it didn't drain the water well and flooded easily. Felt like a tsunami while showering.

It was the worst hotel that I ever stayed . Surrounding area is one of the dangerous areas of Europe , and some employee is rude and arrogant

The hostel is fine, with a good location to the Frankfurt Main train station, good room and bathroom cleanliness, however you can hear a lot of noise because it is located in the city with many homeless people around the building.

It felt like if I was going to get mugged. Very unsafe place to stay, the rooms were filthy.

One of the nicest hostels I've been to. very nice staff and service, there's a lift, a good hearty breakfast. people are very friendly and sociable, you can see their integrity and professionalism. I'll definitely come there again!??

absolut empfehlenswert. freundliches personal. nur englisch sprechend. obwohl im berüchtigten bahnhofsviertel. hatte es mir wesentlich schlimmer vorgestellt. schulnote 2 :)

Only stayed one night but really enjoyed my stay

Auberge agréable et bien organisée. La chambre était propre, moderne et le lit confortable. Le petit-déjeuner (7,5 euros) est très copieux. Le personnel est réactif et compétent. En revanche, comme cela est indiqué sur le site, l'auberge se trouve au milieu du quartier rouge, qui est un quartier de drogues et de prostitution. C'est assez désagréable, mais pas dangereux et ça a l'avantage d'être près de la gare.

Very nice hostel, but area RED DISTRICT is worst!

The hostel is great, it has free coffee, tea and water, the rooms and bathrooms are clean, the beds are as comfortable as they can be, however the area is a bit creepy. There are high people in the street and around the corner so I recommend getting to the hostel before it gets dark, it is a bit scary, especially if you a re a woman traveling solo. nevertheless, the stay was very pleasant and the staff are kind.

O hostel é okay se coloca em questão o custo benefício. Vale ressaltar que está localizado no meio de uma Cracolândia, a situação é muito tensa, dá medo de sair à noite. Pessoas muito drogadas na rua. Os quartos tem uma estrutura Okay, fedia muito mas não é culpa do Hostel e sim dos hóspedes. Os banheiros são Okay, meio velhos. A estrutura de forma geral aparenta ser velha, seria bacana uma reforma.

Friendly, welcoming staff and pretty clean. Good breakfast. Pretty dodgy area though- didn’t want to get my phone out in the immediate vicinity

I was apprehensive at first, but the staff made all the difference. They are all very friendly and helpful cats. Back patio is open 9am-10pm. They offer laundry services, a pool table, DVDs and TV can be found downstairs. A vending machine, book exchange, games, maps, menus and more can be found in the main area. Of course, can't forget free water, tea and coffee 24/7. A variety of drinks and beer can be purchased. Fruday is beer night which means they break out a bunch of beers for guests to try and share: free! Pasta night offers a free bowl of hot, tasty pasta. They also have a crêpe night, same idea, a free hot and tasty crêpe for guests, also free. And more. Take a picture or post a note on the community billboard to record your stay. If you can look past the location, it's a great place! I would recommend and return. Do enjoy !

Very kind people! I forgot my glasses in the room and had already left Germany, but they were so helpful and sent them to me in France. The room was also excellent, with a good price and a very nice shower. Thank you for everything. I’ll definitely come back if I visit Frankfurt again! Greetings from Palestine ??

Its a great hostel in a bad location but super near to central station and the all the local transport and accessible to all restaurants and stores. I loved their 7.50 euro all you can eat breakfast. Overall no complains from the room n bed. Not the fanciest but basic things were good enough. Maybe they shouldnt charge for sheet seperately.

Hot showers, nice kitchen, great breakfast (for extra 7.5€). Comfortable and private capsule beds. We also felt safe walking around near the hostel but didn’t go out after dark.

Tolle Hostel finde ich! Wasser und Café kostenlos, Tische, wo man auch arbeiten kann, lockers für die Zeit vor und nach dem Check-in/Check-out. Sehr nettes Personal! Perfekt!????

Estuvo muy buena mi estadía

The hostel itself is decent but it's located in the worst part of Frankfurt, full of d*** users, prostitutes and homeless people all around. It felt extremely unsafe to get to/leave the hostel, specially at night.

Good enough for the price and a short stay. The common living room is spacious and pleasant to relax. A great asset is the proximity to the main train station (300m). However, as explicitly indicated in the official description, the hostel is located right in the middle of the red district, therefore it may not be the perfect hostel for those looking for conventional surroundings.

Smelly , loud and junkeys everywhere. Breakfast naaahhh. Overall. Spend few dollars more. It's worth it. Go where else

el hostal es en la zona roja, el ambiente no es agradable afuera del hostal, pero caminas dos cuadras y ya es perfecto. me pareció limpio, las camas estaban bien, el personal excelente, el ambiente del hostal excelente.

Estuve 2 noches en las capsulas, cumplio con la funcion, pero la ventilación es muy mala, tuve que dejar la puerta abierta porque era sofocante el calor, y por lo demás es un hostal. Lleven candado

Used to be good 5 ..8 years ago (despite the disgusting area it is located in - be super careful!), but terrible nowadays. Super rundown, terribly maintained. I had a double room and it was really poor. Cannot imagine how terrible the dorms must be. In addition, lots of hidden cost including charging for bed sheets….

I booked an affordable private solo room with a shared bathroom (around €27). I landed early in Frankfurt and arrived at the hostel at 9 am to check in or leave my baggage at their storage or have a (free) tea in the lounge. I asked for an early check in if the room was available. After a 15 min wait, I was given the keys to the 7 Floor room. The room was actually bigger and with 2 single beds and a big TV with Netflix. It was surprisingly bigger than expected. There was a shared kitchen and several bathrooms/showers for the entire 7th floor. It flet like I was in my own apartment and barely met other guests

The hostel is in the middle of Red district area, which is dangerous. Nevertheless, I didn't face any danger during my stay. Rooms are very small for the amount of people that are inside, so we should open the window 24/7 for fresh air during the whole day. As a consequence there was much noise during the night, I couldn't sleep at all. Furthermore, the beds were old and when someone sleeping changed position the whole bed was moving. general the hostel was clean and the stuff very helpful.

The employees at this hostel are super and work very hard to accommodate alot of people and keep the place clean. You cannot really lockup your stuff, they have a communal locker below that you can put stuff in and add a lock and chain. Also you have a mid size locker in the room but it has no lock on it. I kept all important things very close with me. Like I said before the staff really work to keep the place clean but with so many travelers the bathrooms and floors in the rooms can be messy.

Very nice hostel, nice shower and bed. Not too much noise, very good price. It’s located in VERRRY sketch area, but once you’re inside it’s all good.

Die Gegend macht einem nur Angst. Auf der ganzen Straße liegen Fentanyl-leichen. Wir haben am gleichen Tag noch eine andere Unterkunft gebucht.

There is too much noise at night. The furniture and overall room conditions, including bathroom cleanliness, are very poor compared to the price of the hostel. Also, a lot of people who seem to be using d**** often hang around the hostel’s main entrance, which feels unsafe.

Super noisy during the night, even with windows closed, you could hear so many noises even on the 5th floor! I did not feel safe in the neighborhood... Also compared to other hostels, I would give lower rates for facilities... also rooms felt a bit old and not that clean ...

They managed to get me access to the rear car park so I didnt have to leave my motorbike out on the road.

The facility and the staff were great! There’s not much anyone can do about the characters that hang out in the red light district but as a solo female, I didn’t find anyone to be menacing or harassing. The staff highly prioritizes security of the facility! The location was great otherwise to explore the city. There was lots of information and social opportunities provided by the hostel that were much appreciated and enjoyed!

El Hostel está bastante bien. La sala de estar está cómoda. La zona es fea, llena de zombies en la calle.

Great hostel. Nice atmosphere, free coffee tee and water, good price for the rooms & clean! 24/7 bat. The location is horrible but the hostel itself is save. There is several doors.

A equipe é maravilhosa, o que me incomodou foram alguns hóspedes estranhos, teve um momento que um homem que parecia viver na rua entrou no hostel e foi tomar o chá gratis, isso me incomodou bastante. Meu quarto não estava limpo, largaram uma banana no armário e de noite o cheiro estava péssimo. As camas fechadas são muito abafadas. Tem apenas dois chuveiros para 7 quartos, achei pouco tbm. Não sei se voltaria para esse hostel.

My only real complaint is the lack of privacy curtains. Top 5 for BEST STAFF! Red Light district but safe with constant police presence & video surveillance. Vending machine, maps, free tea & coffee. It's my go to for Frankfurt minutes from the Main Hbf. I recommend & would absolutely be staying again. Enjoy!

Great view of the skyline from the private room, 3 bathrooms equipped with showers on the floor, all very clean. Only WiFi didn’t work while I was there which was a bummer. Other than that, great place.
