Five Elements Hostel

I went to the hostel with very low expectations, as the location is probably one of the worst in Frankfurt. However, I must recognize that once inside the building, you dont realize where you are. Inside is just as any other hostel. I must also recognize that everything is very clean, even more than many other hostels. The staff also was very friendly. The only issue is probably that there was no hot water.

I always stay in this hostel when I come to Frankfurt.

The hostel itself is great: clean rooms, clean toilet, kind staff. Reception open h24. Very good breakfast. The location is really bad: junkies everywhere around the block and super bad smell as a consequence. I haven't felt afraid or threatened, but it's a shame those people don't get help from the municipality

Great hostel! Good service at the front desk, and they let you hang out in their pleasant common area with tables, outlets and a coffee/tea/water bar before check-in and after checkout. The location (in the red light district) is quite seedy, with drunk people and drug users all over the street right outside the hostel. The hostel facade is also a bit easy to miss, so it can be a little scary looking for it along this shady street between the bars and strip clubs / sex shop. But don't worry, security at the hostel seems quite good. You have to press a button on the outside and they will buzz you in. The portion of the building containing the rooms is also separated from the common area by another locked door that has to be manually opened by a front desk attendant, who often ask people to show their hostel card, so you can be assured that people almost certainly won't be able to get in from off the street. Note that it gets a bit stinky and hot/stuffy in the public areas, at least on the upper floors (I was on floor 5). If you can afford it, I recommend one of the rooms with its own bathroom.

the hostel Is located in a street full of drug addicts, theres people injecting heroin all day and all night in front of the Building. and at night when i asked if i could smile a cigarette in the back garden because I was afraid of all the junkies I was told i couldnt because the neighbours might complain. an hostel that cares more about neighbours complains than its guests safety Is the worst kind of hostel you can find.

The hostel itself was very nice. The rooms and facilities were clean, and every bunk had access to individual power outlets! Staff were really nice as well. The location is great if all you need is quick access to the main train station (two minutes away and a super easy walk!), but the area is a bit intense other than that.

Good hostel, pretty clean, neighborhood sketchy but not so much that I was fearing. Have to know for female travelers that something like 75% of customers are men. If you book in a mixed dorm, you’ll probably be the only girl in the room (like me). Also there’s a lie on the description : breakfast is 9€, not 6,5€. And it doesn’t worth it. Staff quite nice. In conclusion I think it’s a nice place to stay. And I met very nice people.

Great place to stay at with good initiatives from the staff members in regard to deals at the bar / reception.

The staff were kind and, because my dorm bed was overbooked, they upgraded me to a private room at no extra cost. The location near the train station and the 24/7 reception are strong advantages. Unfortunately, the area feels unsafe, full of addicts, casinos and strip clubs and people without home. The bathroom is ok, but not perfectly clean, though effort is visible. Overall good value, but heavily affected by the neighbourhood!

This place is fine for a quick stop over. Its next to the station which is the only reason I stayed. These streets behind the station are pretty dodgy, and this is in that area, but the doors have a buzz in system so it feels pretty safe. I was in a shared dorm (6 beds), but i was the only female :( so i wouldn't recommend. It was fine, clean as a hostel can typically be. Was very happy to get out of there.

The hostel in itself is really good, from friendliness to cleanliness, from activities to free food nights, from facilities to accessibility, it's all great! Except for the location... The streets are littered with druggies and pickpocketers... You always see police around handcuffing people and it can be really scary at nights...

Very safe, very friendly reception area, toilets not very clean (perhaps people who leave salty waste and don't use the cleaning fork should be penalized). 90% of the staff are professionals, but some need to remember faces because it's annoying to have to take out their ID cards every time they enter. The rooms on the main entrance side are not soundproof; there is too much street noise at night (but it's not all the time).

Mein Aufenthalt war hervorragend! ich war schon etwas besorgt, als ich die anderen Bewertungen gelesen habe, habe mich dann aber doch für eine Übernachtung entschieden. Die Gegend dort ist wohl die schlimmste in ganz Deutschland, aber ich denke halb so wild, wenn man einfach selbstbewusst dran vorbeigeht. Es ist eine Straße vom Hauptbahnhof entfernt. die Mitarbeiter schauen gewissenhaft, dass niemand unbefugtes die Räumlichkeiten betritt. Und es gibt eine Regendusche!

The area is very convenient if you plan to travel by FlixBus or train to other parts of Germany. The main station is close, making it easy to get around. However, you should be aware that this location is also in the heart of the red-light district and an area with visible drug use. Many people openly use drugs, and it is not something that is hidden. In fairness, most individuals will not bother you beyond occasionally asking for money. The police patrol the area regularly, which adds

Liegt im Frankfurter Rotlichtviertel, also überall Junkies und andere dubiose Gestalten, welche ich als bedrohlich empfand. Im Hostel selbst hatte ich eine merkwürdige Interaktion mit einem anderen Gast. Danach war ich froh, dass ich mein Kapselbett abschließen konnte. Auf einem normalen Zimmer mit 4-6 Betten hätte ich mich sonst äußerst unwohl gefühlt. Es gibt auf der ersten Etage (mit den Kapselbetten) nur 2 Duschen und 3 Toiletten, auf denen überall die Seife fehlte. Kann es nicht empfehlen.

Very nice! I used to stay in a&o, but this one is so mucy better! (and cheaper!). I stayed in a Capsel 2 nights and I was very confortable. Very clean, nice people... 100% recommended!

It's okay me to stay there. Value for money and clean please.

This hostel is just a 3-5 minute walk from Frankfurt train station. Although it's located in one of Germany's most notorious drug-addicted and red-light districts, you're safe once you step inside. To enter, ring the doorbell. The receptionist will open the door, leading to the reception area and common area. To take the elevator to your room, show the receptionist your check-in information card, who will open a second door. Finally, use your room key to enter your room. The common areas offer complimentary hot coffee and self-service tea bags (various flavors), with options to add sugar, maple syrup, and milk. A communal kitchen is located on the basement floor, equipped with a toaster, kettle, refrigerator, induction cooker, and various cooking utensils for free use. The eight-bed dorm rooms have a bedside lamp and two power outlets per bed. Pillowcases, sheets, and duvet covers cost €3 each. Each bed has a large, fully enclosed locker; you'll need to bring your own lock, or you can rent one from the receptionist for a fee. The toilets and showers are shared on each floor, separated by gender. One Hair dryer is available in the communal washrooms. Luggage can be stored free of charge upon check-in and check-out, or you can choose to use the lockers for a fee. Wi-Fi is very stable, and the heating is excellent.

Eu gostei do espaço, bons banheiros e uma boa área de convivência. Localização excelente, principalmente para quem está de passagem. Equipe simpática. Recomendo.

Easy hostel to get to from the airport as they have the underground train to get to the main station and cheap. Same if you are coming by train. Yes it is in the red light district/people on drugs. The druggies will leave you alone but just be aware. Everything is in within walking distance. It was a cheap hostel for me. It has a kitchen if you want to cook. Rooms and bathrooms were clean. Hot showers. If you are looking for a clean, cheap hostel this is the place for you.

Area is a bit sketchy and older crowd but the hostel facilities and staff are actually nice

It was really great staying in this hotel. The stuff was friendly and helpful, the room was clean and they maintain regular cleanliness, providing all the facilities, good location and value for money. Gladly will book again.

Scary area, not safe for solo female travellers. Rooms were humid and hot.

Tout bon en ce qui concerne l'hôtel, le personnel, la sécurité, les commodités. Seul bémol, le quartier n'est pas très rassurant, lieu de prostitution, beaucoup de sans-abris, drogués, rue sale (détritus, déjections).

Social atmosphere wasn’t great. Kitchen was small but worked ok. Bit of a dodgy area but close to the train station.

Ik heb weer genoten van mijn verblijf bij jullie. De douches zijn schoon, de lokalen zijn schoon, slechts 2 kleine klachten, maar die zijn niet erg ernstig, we zouden echt een beetje in de capsules moeten stofzuigen nadat de klanten zijn gepasseerd en misschien alle klanten eraan herinneren dat de keuken gemeenschappelijk is en dat het leuk is dat het wordt schoongemaakt nadat ieder van ons is gepasseerd het personeel is ook cool, maar ze weten hoe ze zichzelf moeten respecteren!
