Heart Of Gold Hostel

Very hot in the pods ! Had to end up leaving the doors open when sleeping because of how stuffy it gets. Kitchen is also very small considering the amount of people staying there. Other from that it’s an easy walk to Berlin and the people there were very nice.

Hostel was fine for the amount we paid for it, good location. The beds were incredibly creaky, the bedding wasn’t up to par and there was some weird stains all over our dorm floor that obviously hadn’t been cleaned properly. We had to wait ages to use the loo or shower, which were very dirty and smelled of strong urine. Staff were helpful and nice enough, we made do with what we had.

We stayed here as part of our backpacking trip through Europe. Really ideal location as was very central to the touristy parts. Bathrooms were always clean. The room itself was nice, however the bed wasn’t the comfiest. Not too noisy. Good vibes with the bar downstairs, we met loads of people here everyone was lovely and was easy to meet new people. Would recommend!

the pods where nice but could literally hear everything around you and beds squeezing made it hard to sleep. overall had a good time

Amazing place, very functional and clean single private room, good and comfortable bed (although pillow could have been better). Cozy and warm atmosphere, there was no crazy parties or mayhem. I felt very safe all the time. My room had a private shower and sink, but toilets were all shared. Staff did an amazing job in toilet cleaning! Staff was kind and friendly, very helpful. One thing I missed was a laundromat. Heart of Gold is a great place to stay in Berlin if you are on a budget.

Good hostel for a few nights. The staff was very friendly. The rooms are large. It's a bit noisy at night from the courtyard and the bathrooms could be a bit cleaner. But the price is okay: you get what you paid for.

We really loved this place, nice bathrooms, great with the kitchen and very friendly staff. We booked the pods in end of June, and it got quite hot during the night - wasn’t all too bad, but could be better. Also it wasn’t as soundproof as we hoped, but maybe we just had high hopes. All in all a very nice place

Staying in the capsules is ok if you're a cool sleeper but if you're a hot sleeper I'd potentially consider another option. The ventilation is very weak. Plus the only charging options are one USB A and one USB C, which if you have extra gear to charge, is vastly insufficient

La posizione é veramente ottimale in pochi minuti a piedi si raggiunge l'isola dei musei. La sala comune dell'ostello, il bar e il cortile interno favoriscono bene l'interazione anche tra viaggiatori solitari. La pulizia buona in camera, ma cucina fuori controllo. Poco fornita di utensili e spesso sporchi. Ci sono pochi piani per poggiate le cose e lo spazio é stretto. I bagni sono ben distribuiti tra i vari piani e puliti.

This hostel was nice and the staff were very accommodating. There were places to lock bags before or after one had formally checked in to a room, a bar one can get drinks at or take them into a patio area, and a youthful vibe and fun hangout culture. Travelers seemed pretty interested in playing cards or going out together at nights and the staff had helpful suggestions.

Lovely welcoming staff, very helpful with all needs. Nice location close to both the station and all parts of the city. Cleanliness of bathrooms was terrible, black mould all over the showers, temperature of the showers did not vary and stayed on for less than 10seconds, bathroom light was flickery and the toilet was falling off the wall. Rooms were nice but very hot and stuffy, and not well ventilated. Overall a lovely hostel but definitely needs some improvements around the bathroom areas

Pretty damn good

The location is very convinent for ppl to go to Musuem Island and train stations to transfer to other buildings or places, and the staffs are very nice to welcome new customers. I like the music style in the lounge-for ppl who don't want to go clubs or outside at night, However, sometimes someone who didn't live here will enter the lounge and make some noises in the campus at the ground floor. The facility is basic and usually the bed would make noises when ppl turn over themselves.

Good for the money they ask for, but needs some curtains for privacy and more cleanness in the bathrooms.

very clean, and you can leave your stuff lying around! so that’s awesome. also you can lwk have a private bathroom at times. only thing to consider is the cubes DONT HAVE VENTILATION or air-con, which means you might die of heat during the night, because of body heat or whatever. but for the safety and the semi-private bathroom, i’d still recommend it to friends.

Bathrooms were kinda gross but useable. One of the staff members was having a rough day when I was checking out and had a go at me for not bringing my sheets down which I had already put in the basket at the request of another staff member. Beds were comfy. Location is pretty good.

Honestly not what I expected- the bed was really not comfortable and I don’t think the rooms/bathrooms were cleaned in the two days I was there. My sheets were also dirty. They do have free tea and coffee and the people that work there are very nice and helpful but I think next time I would come back but I would would pay the extra for something nicer since the basic price really is the bare minimum

The hostel is very well located, with restaurants, bakeries, and tourist attractions nearby. The bathroom is questionable, with lots of mold. There's nothing to hang towels or clothes in the shower either. The bare minimum is found in the room (a bed and a locker). Each bed doesn't have an individual light or outlet, and there's nothing to hang clothes or dry towels on. Despite a few drawbacks, I recommend it.

Globalement une adresse à recommander ! Juste quelques petits détails à la marge comme une literie "grinçante" et des petits déjeuners un peu chers. Sinon, l'emplacement est idéal pour des visites pédestres du coeur de Berlin Je reviendrai volontiers.

The whole place was kinda smelly and the bathrooms were quite dirty. The dorm was ok, but the beds didn’t have curtains and they made this loud noise every time you even slightly moved. Personally wouldn’t stay here again, but the location is good and the staff were really nice. So if you’re not gonna spend a lot of time at the hostel, this might be a good option.

Strittura nel complesso carina, abbiamo dormito in una camerata da 5 che mancava completamente di privacy(servirebbero quantomeno le tendine sui letti). le pulizie venivano effettuate solo 1 volta al giorno e questo rendeva i bagni, soprattutto al mattino, abbastanza sporchi. I phon non funzionano. Il personale comunque è gentilissimo e disponibile per ogni cosa. Da migliorare alcune cose ma se prenotate le capsule invece delle camerate credo sia meglio.

This hostel is fine, facilities are pretty basic! The bar in reception is nice to hang out and has cheap drinks. I got pretty unlucky and had 2 different groups of people that were in my room removed from the hostel for poor behaviour, so that made my stay not the best. However I have to commend the staff on dealing with this! Anytime I had interactions with the staff they were lovely and always so helpful.

Caught me off guard, as the reviews seem to be decent, but there is nothing good about this hostel apart from a few funky space murals on the walls . I stayed three nights and moved rooms for my last night to an equally terrible room. It is just one big money grab that will do the minimum possible for the most amount of money. My first room the bed had a leg missing, it was probably a 3 inch gap, and everything the guy under my would roll, the whole bed would and wake me up. Reception didn't give a shit as I'd already paid and said to wedge something underneath. They're also squeaky as hell, and wake you up after every minor movement by anybody in your room. Also the windows have shitty curtains attached and they keep all the outside lights on so it's bright as hell in the rooms all the time. When I asked reception, they said we can't turn the lights off because we don't know how. Jesus christ why is everybody that works here a fucking i***t. UNPLUG THE LIGHT. I ended up doing it and it got a little darker. The lockers are too small to even fit a hikers bag so it's really just the trust system for everything but your most valuable stuff, and they make you pay a 10 DOLLAR DEPOSIT for the KEYCARDS you get, if you're any later than 11 am to check out or lose the card you don't get it. (for reference most places in europe might charge you a 1 to 2 euro deposit because it's a keycard and costs 12 cents to make. The wifi works probably an equivalent of 1/3 of the time. and the outside seating area sucks. Everybody I'd talked to that I'd met here hates this place, it must have been okay 5 years ago to get all those good reviews, but it sucks now. I've stayed at hostels around europe, I've tree planted for 3 years, I ain't no stranger to roughing it. This f****g place is the absolute worst. Oh the bread from breakfast was moldy and upon asking for new bread they said they'd send someone to the f****g store tomorrow, so no bread today for a 10 euro breakfast. I hate this place so much I cannot string the words together. Do not come here.

Fine place to stay if you’re not fussed to be spending a lot of time in the hostel. Good location, cheaper price for Berlin, kitchen, but bathroom in room weren’t very clean

I thought that there would be a lock on the capsule doors and a fan inside of it. Other then that the hostel is nice and central in its location.

Great for solo travellers, loved it

One bathroom for each gender in a big dorm with close to 20 people wasn’t ideal. The ladder is in an awkward position if you’re on the top bunk, I fell one day because of it and had a nasty bruise and hurt ankle to show for it.

Nice hostel, has outside courtyard and large bar/seating area. Very small kitchen for the size of the hostel and staff were a bit unhelpful sometimes.

The location was great, I walked everywhere to explore the city. The bed mattress was a bit too soft for me, but of course this is a personal preference and by the second night I got used to it. I felt safe there during my stay, the reception was kind, the bathroom was clean and spacious. I also really appreciated the size of the lockers, all my stuff fit in there. Overall great experience, I would recommend it! :)

The toilets smelled so bad. The shower turned off every 15 seconds so you have to keep pressing the button. The key card also broke almost everyday so I had to keep getting it reset. At least you could leave your bags for free as long as you have your own lock.

Great spot, friendly staff, fun atmosphere over the weekends. If you plan on staying in summer, avoid the capsules if you’re a hot sleeper, they don’t stay cool at all.

Central location in Berlin, pretty $$ for what you get… but it is also Europe! Staff were okay, the rooms are very basic and needed airing out that’s for sure. Also had to take your own linen down in the morning. The location is also kinda offsite in an adjacent building.. not very social / no activities

Lut inconfortable + pas de prise électrique, salle de bain qui pue les égouts + très très sale, pas d'aération,la cuisine ferme à 22h (mention special pour le café gratuit), les chambres sentent mauvais, les cartes électroniques sont tout le temps démagnetisé, je suis un jeune donc je ne suis pas difficile sur les auberges mais celle là est terrible, à eviter à tout prix

The hostel overall did not smell great. The bathrooms, although weren’t neglected, were still in bad shape. There wasn’t much socialization promoted, and everyone mostly kept to themselves. The bar in the lobby didn’t have great options for liquor. There was a tram stop around the block was convenient though.

Decent overall - only stayed for a short time. Good facilities - kitchen was good but no oven due to a fault. Would recommend if you are more focused on going to museums on museum island but sometimes difficult to get to main city area

There was a few too many stairs for my liking to get to the second floor but they let us book on an extra night last minute which was very splendid indeed :) Lovely staff The and bathrooms were great but the oven was broken so we had to eat a microwaved garlic bread which was too pale. ???? Amazing location near Freidrichstaussee something.
